Summer Racing Fashion Tips Posted on November 11, 2016November 11, 2016 by Coffs Harbour Racing Club With the rescheduled Coffs Harbour Gold Cup Day falling in Summer this year, it’s time to get inspired by what will make for a good Summer racing outfit. Especially if you are entering the Park Beach Plaza Fashions on Field with great prizes up for grabs! Here’s our 4 tips for top Summer Racing Fashion 1. Modesty and elegance are always key Some rules never change – race wear is all about elegance, modesty and sophistication and all dresses should fall below the knee. It’s best to save your party wear for another day… 2. Flowers and Crowns are in Race days also present the opportunity to highlight millinery and so often, the most beautiful looks include an impressive hat or fascinator. We saw at the recent Spring carnival a revival of fresh is best with many flower and succulents featuring as fascinators. Crown-like head bands were also a plenty with metallic and bold black starring. 3. Monochrome, florals and lace When it comes to choosing an outfit, many women take their influence from Derby Day and dress in black and white. Monochrome is feminine, understated and glamorous. Classic black rarely goes out of style but the past few racing seasons have seen a move toward bold colours. Florals and lace have also been prominent in 2016 and pastels are making a comeback too with standout racegoers of Flemington and Randwick in 1950’s silhouette dresses. 4. For the men, a smart, well-fitted suit always works best Men can also mix it up in a different coloured jacket such as navy, grey or with a simple print. Don’t forget the hats, men – it’s a stylish addition to a suave suit. Old school touches such as pocket squares and bow ties also get noticed. Good luck with dressing to impress at this year’s Summer Racing events at Coffs Harbour Racing Club. See the full line-up of events here on the Race Day Calendar.
